The Seattle Seahawks (16-3, 14-5 ATS) and New England Patriots (17-3, 13-7 ATS) will meet in a heavyweight clash in Super Bowl 60 in two weeks’ time. Both teams are led by quarterbacks currently in the midst of MVP-caliber seasons. While Super Bowl MVP isn’t quite as quarterback-dominated as the regular-season NFL MVP odds, the two elite pivots are still head-and-shoulders above their teammates in the opening odds for Super Bowl 60’s most-valuable player.

The opening Seahawks vs Patriots odds favored Seattle by 3.5 points (and -196 on the moneyline), and the line has already moved in the Seahawks’ direction. Sensibly, Seattle QB1 Sam Darnold is the +130 favorite (43.48% implied win probability) in the Super Bowl MVP odds. He’s followed by New England pivot Drake Maye at +235 (29.85% implied win probability).

Going back to the 2000-01 Super Bowl, quarterbacks have won 16 of the last 25 Super Bowl MVP awards, including five of the last six (three of which belong to Patrick Mahomes, alone).

Wide receivers are next on the list with five MVPs in the last 25 editions of the Super Bowl. Linebackers have won three (Ray Lewis, 2000-01; Malcolm Smith 2013-14; Von Miller 2015-16). The only other position on the list is safety thanks to Tampa Bay’s Dexter Jackson back in the 2002-03 season.
