The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will meet in Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, this Sunday, February 8th. The opening Seahawks/Patriots odds listed Seattle as a 3.5-point neutral-field favorite, and the Super Bowl odds have only grown since then, currently sitting at SEA -4.5 (-110).
But the New England Patriots will have one weird Super Bowl trend on their side when they take the field on Sunday. It’s the AFC’s turn to be the home team for the Super Bowl and, as such, the Pats got to choose which jerseys to wear. Mike Vrabel and company went with their all-white uniforms, and that puts them on the right side of history.
The team wearing white has won 16 of the last 21 Super Bowls, including each of New England’s five Super Bowl victories in that span. The only time Tom Brady and the Pats won the Lombardi Trophy in New England’s navy blues was his first appearance back in the 2001-02 season.
However, while the broad trend favors teams wearing white, more-recent history as seen colored jerseys making a comeback. Of the five teams that have on the Super Bowl in non-white jerseys in the last 21 years, four did so in the last nine seasons, including each of the last two. The Philadelphia Eagles destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs while wearing green last season. The Eagles were also wearing green when they captured Super Bowl 52 over the Pats.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowls 54 and 58 while wearing red.
If you want to bet the Patriots to keep their white-jersey streak alive in Super Bowl 60, the best odds as of Monday morning are at FanDuel, where New England is priced at +194 to win straight-up. BetRivers has the best ATS price on the Patriots (+5.5 at -122).
If you want to bet the Seahawks to make it three straight for non-white jerseys, the best moneyline price is currently -225 at BetMGM. If you want to bet Seattle to cover, take -4.5 (-110) at bet365 or Fanatics.
