Phil Hellmuth has a chance on Monday to silence Shaun Deeb and his other doubters.
The Poker Hall of Famer has reached the final table in Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship at the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP). If he battles through a short stack and takes this event down, he will secure his record-extending 18th bracelet and first since 2023.
Can the ‘Poker Brat’ Extend His WSOP Record?
Hellmuth entered Day 3 sixth in chips with 15 players remaining. The tournament condensed to one table when the field hit eight players, but the official final table occurred when John Esposito busted in eighth place.
Hellmuth, at the start of the official final table, had 1,750,00 chips, good for third place. Dylan Weisman holds the chip lead in the Omaha/8 tournament. All remaining players are guaranteed to at least $54,214, but the winner will take home $450,176.
The final table appearance is Hellmuth’s 81st lifetime in bracelet events dating back to 1988, according to his player profile on the WSOP.com website. That is just one of many records he holds, along with 17 bracelets, which is six more than anyone else (Phil Ivey is in second place with 11).
If Hellmuth can pull it off at the final table on Monday, he’ll prove Deeb wrong. Deeb has, on multiple occasions the past year, including last week in an interview with PokerNews, predicted that Hellmuth would never win another bracelet.
