Jon Turner is on the shrinking list of “best players to have never won a bracelet.” But the longtime poker pro had a shot to get off that list on Sunday at the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP).
The tournament grinder entered Day 3 in Event #40: $1,500 Razz with the chip lead among the final six players. It would be his 21st final table appearance in a bracelet event, and one of his best opportunities to win a bracelet.
Turner, a local pro in Las Vegas, was in great shape entering play, but in the swingy game of razz.
Turner Attempts to Win First Bracelet
Turner, who has $4.6 million in live tournament cashes recorded by The Hendon Mob, lost his chip lead early in the Day 3 session before regaining it in a hand against recent bracelet winner Stephen Hubbard. He’d increase that lead after leaving Adam Owen with crumbs.
Owen would soon bust in sixth place for $21,850, and Turner was still riding high, getting closer to a first bracelet. But he’d lose about 20% of his stack in one hand to Sebastian Pauli, then an even bigger chunk to the same player in another hand.
Turner’s stack quickly began trending downwards, but he still had plenty of chips. But the wheels would fall off completely before long. He couldn’t hit the right card to save his life after running hot for the better part of two-plus days.
The run would come to an end in fifth place out of 519 players for $30,177. It was the 14th time in a bracelet event he’s finished in the top five. But he not only doesn’t have a bracelet to his name, he’s never reached heads-up play.
Turner does have a WSOP Circuit ring and took down a $5,000 Deepstack event at Venetian for $536,858 in 2016, along with dozens of smaller events, mostly in Las Vegas. But he hasn’t been able to get over the hump at the World Series of Poker.
Turner has been a regular at the WSOP for more than a dozen years, consistently racking up cashes and making deep runs. He already has six cashes this summer, including a ninth-place finish in Event #8: $1,500 Badugi. The only thing left he has to accomplish is to close out one of these WSOP final tables. The odds are high it will happen eventually.
