The Mystery Bounty Series concluded at PokerStars over the weekend with the crowning of the Main and Mini Main Event champions. PokerStars paid out more than $3.4 million across the 55 Mystery Bounty Series events, with $735,123 of that princely sum stemming from the aforementioned Main Events.
The $109 Main Event attracted a field of 6,167 entrants, who ensured the $500,000 guarantee was blown out of the water. A total of $616,700 was paid out, including five mystery bounty payments worth at least $10,000 each. Uruguay’s “mike21_4life” claimed the largest mystery bounty before they busted in 113th place. It tipped the scales at an impressive $25,000.
Day 1 ended with only 102 players progressing. Team PokerStars Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg and Sebastian “peace&loove” Huber both cashed but failed to reach Day 2
With bounty payments included, all nine finalists locked in at least $4,202 for their efforts, with the top five finishers adding a five-figure score to their records.
Bulgaria’s “msrm13” was the first of that quintet to bank $10,000+; their fifth-place finish came with a $10,485 payout. Fourth place and $14,027 went to the Bolivian “xXROMmMEOXx,” while “E1fersucht” banked a $21,793 prize all the way from Thailand.
Heads-up pitted “PoetDark” of Brazil against “dankreas” of the United Kingdom. The battle went the Brits’ way, and they scooped $52,204, including $14,733 worth of bounties, leaving the runner-up to a still-welcome $30,583 prize.

Mystery Bounty Series Mini Main Event Ends in a Three-Way Chop
A bumper crowd of 12,084 entrants created a $118,423 prize pool in the $11 Mini Main Event, substantially more than the advertised $100,000 guarantee. When PokerNews checked the standings after Day 1 ended, we were preparing to write about Spragg or Huber coming out on top because both had bagged up impressive stacks.
Of the 727 players who navigated to Day 2, Spragg was 26th in chips while Huber locked in 10th place. Unfortunately for these players’ legion of fans, Huber finished 473rd, while Spragg came unstuck in 203rd.
The top six finishers walked away with four-figure prizes for their $11 investments, even though the runner-up fired six bullets! A deal was struck with only three players remaining. That deal lessened the pay jumps and took some pressure off the players.
“DSM09” was in second-place at the time of the deal, but they fell in third for $5,208 before “kprock1” of Canada came from behind to defeat “papapipapidu” heads-up for the title and a $4,741 payout. The runner-up saw $5,446 added to their PokerStars balance.

The Mystery Bounty Series may be done and dusted, but that does not mean the tournament action ends at PokerStars. In addition to the massive tournament schedule, there is the 15th Anniversary Edition of the Sunday Storm on May 10. It comes with dozens of flights running now and a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Then from May 10 through June 3, a massive $50 million is guaranteed across the Anniversary Series, an online poker festival to celebrate PokerStars turning 25.
