Potomac Summer Poker Open returns to MGM National Harbor with more than $1.5M in guaranteed prize pools

The Potomac Summer Poker Open will return to MGM National Harbor’s The Poker Room from August 5-17, 2026, bringing 23 trophy events and more than $1.5 million in guaranteed prize pools to the Maryland resort.

Held in collaboration with BetMGM Poker, the biannual tournament series will feature a mix of multi-day No-Limit Hold’em events, mixed-game tournaments and bounty formats. According to MGM National Harbor, the series will bring together “elite professionals, skilled regional players and ambitious beginners” over 13 days of competition.

The schedule opens with a $500,000 guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em Opener featuring seven starting flights running from August 5-8. The $600 buy-in tournament will conclude with Day 2 on August 9.

The festival’s largest tournament is the $750,000 guaranteed Main Event, which carries a $3,000 buy-in. The event will feature two starting flights on August 14 and 15, followed by Day 2 on August 16 and the final table on August 17.

MGM National Harbor said the series “features 23 trophy events, which encompass a thoughtful mix of multi-day tournaments, mixed games and bounty events.”

Mixed games and specialty tournaments on the schedule

Alongside the headline tournaments, players will have access to a range of mixed-game and specialty events.

The lineup includes a $10,000 guaranteed TORSE event, Mixed Pot-Limit Omaha, an 8-Game Mix tournament, PLO 8, Big-O and a Double Board PLO Bomb Pot event. The schedule also includes bounty tournaments, a Tag Team competition, Seniors and Super Seniors events, a Women’s No-Limit Hold’em tournament and the $40,000 guaranteed 40/40 event.

Another featured tournament is the $100,000 guaranteed Monumental Stacks event, which will run with starting flights on August 11 and 12 before Day 2 on August 13. A separate $100,000 guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em tournament is scheduled to begin on August 13.

Satellite opportunities will be available throughout the series. Milestone satellites into the Opener are scheduled for August 5, 6 and 7, while a satellite into Event 14 will take place on August 12. Main Event Super Satellites guaranteeing five seats are scheduled for August 10, 11, 13 and 14.

Promotions available throughout the festival

In addition to tournament play, MGM National Harbor will offer several player incentives during the series.

Participants will receive a $25 Match Bet Bonus for every tournament entry, redeemable through MGM Rewards kiosks and usable at participating table games. Players registering for tournament sessions will also receive complimentary meal vouchers that can be used for ready-to-go meals or toward purchases at National Market, Bellagio Patisserie and select retail venues.

The property will also host daily cash games and promotions, including Daily High Hands and $500 Royals, throughout the festival.

MGM National Harbor noted that it no longer withholds automatic gratuities from tournament buy-ins for staff. Instead, each event includes an optional add-on in the total buy-in listed on the schedule, with advertised starting stacks reflecting the optional add-on.
