- The New York Yankees travel to Cleveland for a three-game set against the Guardians
- Cleveland won two of three meetings just last week, with Will Warren facing Gavin Williams Monday
- See the Yankees vs Guardians odds, analysis and MLB player props picks for June 8th
The New York Yankees (38-26) travel to Progressive Field to take on the Cleveland Guardians (37-30) Monday, with first pitch set for at 6:40 PM ET / 3:40 PM PT. The home squad are slight favorites in the MLB odds after taking two of three from the Yankees in the Bronx just last week.
New York has been riddled with injuries, particularly Aaron Judge, who is expected to be sidelined at least 4-6 weeks with a stress fracture in his rib. The Yanks has won eight of twelve, while the Guardians have dropped five of eight. Keep reading for my preview for this game, along with my favorite player props wager to place in the opener of a three-game set.
Yankees vs Guardians Picks & Predictions
Tonight’s battle should be a hotly contested duel with both starting pitchers having exceptional seasons. Will Warren is pitching to a 3.22 ERA, and Gavin Williams 3.20. In six of the last eight meetings, under eight total runs have been accumulated.
Warren has surrendered two or fewer earned runs a whopping ten of twelve starts on the campaign. Williams has been fantastic also, giving up three or fewer earned runs in ten of 13 contests. Given that so many meetings have not produced a ton of runs, and both pitching staffs being in the top half of ERA amongst the bullpen, I like the UNDER eight total runs tonight.
As for my favorite MLB player props angle, I’m honing in on Will Warren’s strikeout total. To toss five or more K’s, he sits at +105, which is very appealing, given that he’s done so in nine of twelve starts on the season.
Starting Pitchers Matchup
The MLB probable pitchers feature a strong matchup on the mound. Williams enters this contest with a 9-3 record and a 3.20 ERA. He has been tough to square up, utilizing his bat-missing ability to hold opposing hitters to a .212 batting average. His 1.08 WHIP highlights his overall command and efficiency on the mound.
Yankees starter Will Warren matches him with a 7-1 record and a 3.22 ERA. While his WHIP (1.20) and opponent batting average (.234) are slightly higher than his counterpart, Warren boasts a lower FIP (3.27).

In the MLB public betting splits, it’s an even 50-50 split in terms of the tickets to win on the moneyline, but 66% of the handle is on the visiting Yankees. In terms of the run line, it’s incredibly close, with a 52-48% advantage for the home squad, and the total runs is a whopping 90% of bets on over 8 runs, which goes against my prediction.
