Enrique Razon Jr., chairman and chief executive of Bloomberry Resorts Corp, has become the wealthiest individual on the 2026 Forbes list of the Philippines’ 50 richest after a significant rise in his fortune over the past year.
Razon recorded an estimated net worth of $21.8 billion, placing him first in the annual ranking for the first time. He previously ranked second, with his fortune estimated at $11.5 billion in the prior edition. The increase was largely linked to the performance of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), where Razon serves as chairman and president.
The ports operator saw its shares more than double over the past year, helping Razon add $10.3 billion to his wealth. ICTSI became the Philippines’ most valuable publicly traded company during the period covered by the ranking.
Alongside his interests in global ports, Razon remains a major figure in the Philippine gaming sector through Bloomberry Resorts. The company operates Solaire Resort Entertainment City in Parañaque and Solaire Resort North in Quezon City, with the latter opening in May 2024.
Gaming Industry Figures Maintain Positions Among Philippines’ Wealthiest
Several business leaders connected to the country’s gaming market continued to appear among the wealthiest individuals and families.
The Sy siblings, heirs of the late retail magnate Henry Sy Sr., dropped to second place after their combined fortune declined to $9.2 billion from $11.8 billion a year earlier. Their business interests include Belle Corp and Premium Leisure Corp, which partnered in the development of City of Dreams Manila.
Lance Gokongwei and his siblings ranked 13th with an estimated combined wealth of $1.9 billion. Their gaming-related holdings include NUSTAR Resort and Casino in Cebu, operated by Universal Hotels and Resorts Inc.
Gokongwei also expanded his involvement in gaming technology during the year through a personal investment of approximately PHP2.03 billion ($33 million) in PhilWeb Inc. Following the investment, he joined the company’s board of directors.
Andrew Tan, chairman of Alliance Global Group Inc., ranked 14th with an estimated fortune of $1.8 billion. Alliance Global controls Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., which operates Newport World Resorts near Manila’s international airport.
DigiPlus Interactive Corp chairman Eusebio Tanco remained among the listed billionaires, ranking 20th with an estimated net worth of $735 million. DigiPlus operates digital gaming platforms including BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone.
Philippine Billionaires Face Broader Market Pressure
Although several gaming-linked entrepreneurs retained prominent rankings, the overall wealth of the Philippines’ richest individuals declined during the year.
According to GGRAsia, the combined fortune of the 50 wealthiest Filipinos fell to $79 billion from $86 billion, representing an 8% decline. The ranking attributed the decrease to economic pressures, including inflation and the weakening Philippine peso.
Forbes reported that only 14 individuals or families on the list increased their wealth compared with the previous year, while 33 saw their fortunes decline.
“The energy shock from the Iran conflict took its toll, stoking inflation while the peso fell. As a result, the collective wealth of the country’s 50 richest tycoons dropped to $79 billion from $86 billion last year,” the report said.
The ranking was calculated using share prices and exchange rates as of the close of markets on July 17, 2026. The methodology included information from company disclosures, stock exchanges, analysts and other financial sources.
Beyond Razon’s rise, several other major Philippine business families remained among the country’s top wealth holders. Ramon Ang of San Miguel Corp. ranked third with $3.5 billion, while Lucio and Susan Co of Puregold placed fourth with $3.3 billion. Isidro Consunji and siblings of DMCI Holdings followed with $3 billion.
Real estate businessman Manuel Villar Jr., who has plans for a casino and theme park project in southern Metro Manila, fell to ninth place with a fortune of $2.4 billion after previously ranking higher.
The latest ranking also highlighted the continuing role of gaming-related businesses within the Philippine economy, with casino operators, digital gaming companies and gaming technology providers represented among the country’s wealthiest entrepreneurs.
