Robbie Bull Wins First Scottish Trophy in the PartyPoker Tour Glasgow Main Event

Edinburgh’s Robbie Bull won the £500 PartyPoker Tour Glasgow Main Event over the weekend, marking his first victory on home soil. Until entering this tournament, Bull had cashed in 11 different countries, but he had never won a trophy in his native Scotland.

Bull quashed that unwanted record by topping a 355-strong field and helping himself to £28,500 of the guarantee-busting £157,975 prize pool.

The final table started with Lewis Henderson holding a substantial chip lead over his eight remaining opponents. Henderson, a player with six trophies on the PartyPoker Tour, entered the final table with 91 big blinds, eclipsing the 56 big blinds in second-placed Bull’s stack.

Christopher Hendry was the shortest stack at the start of the final table action with 17 big blinds. Hendry’s stack had dwindled to 12 big blinds when he open-shoved with pocket tens and ran into Henderson’s pocket aces. Henderson improved to a set on the flop and quads on the turn to bust Hendry in ninth place.

Around 30 minutes later, Jeff Cannon moved all-in with jack-nine of diamonds on a ten-seven-three flop, and Nicholas Scott called with ace-king of spades, having flopped a flush draw. Another seven appeared on the turn with an eight on the river, improving Cannon to a straight and sending Scott to the rail.

Seventh place went to Gary Swan, who lost a coinflip against Ben Crichton. Crichton four-bet all-in with ace-queen of clubs, and Swan looked him up with a pair of jacks in the hole. A queen on the flop left Swan drawing thin, and an ace on the river reduced the player count once more.

The final six became five with Henderson falling by the wayside. Henderson was one of the leaders at the start of six-handed play. However, Abdul Mukit doubled through him with jacks versus sevens before Mukit helped himself to the rest of Henderson’s stack.

Henderson check-called a bet on the five-four-three-jack turn of a board showing three clubs. An offsuit nine completed the board, Henderson checked, Mukit fired a two-thirds pot-sized bet, only for Henderson to check-raise all-in. Mukit snap-called with pocket jacks, which had turned a set. Henderson could only muster ace-seven with the ace of clubs.

Mukit added to his stack 25-30 minutes later by sending Joel Baxter to the showers. With blinds of 60,000/120,000, Mukit min-raised with ace-king from under the gun, and he quickly called when Baxter three-bet shoved for 14 big blinds with what turned out to be the dominated ace-queen. Both players flopped an ace, but Baxter couldn’t find a queen, and he fell in fifth place.

Four-handed play ended when Mukit’s ace-queen prevailed against Cannon’s ten-nine before Bull’s pocket eights came from behind to crack Crichton’s queens, which left only two players in the hunt for the PartyPoker Tour Glasgow Main Event title.

Bull held a 9,050,000 to 8,700,000 chip lead over Mukit going into heads-up.

Around 90 minutes into one-on-one play, Mukit raised four times the big blind with ace-queen before calling Bull’s all-in bet, which he made with ace-seven. Mukit remained ahead on the nine-six-deuce flop and on the eight turn, but a ten on the river gifted Bull an unlikely straight and his first victory on Scottish soil.

Aside from four of the Main Event’s finalists, two other grinders padded their bankrolls with five-figure scores. Jack McMullan banked £13,200 for his victory in the £150 Mini Main Event, while Dara O’Kearney triumphed in the £1,000 High Roller for an £11,550 score.

The PartyPoker Tour is next in action in October, when it sets sail for Castellon in Spain from October 5-11.

It then heads to Cork, Ireland (November 9-15), Murcia, Spain (November 30-December 6) before wrapping up the 2026 festivities in London, UK (December 12-20).
