The Social Gaming Leadership Alliance (SGLA) has appointed Sean J. Ostrow as executive director, replacing Jeff Duncan, who has joined the organization’s board of directors, while also naming four new board members.

Ostrow, who has served as SGLA’s managing director since October 2025, will lead the industry group as it continues to promote what it describes as “Social Plus” games, alongside responsible gameplay and regulatory oversight. Duncan, a former Republican congressman from South Carolina who previously served as executive director, has joined the organization’s board.

Before joining SGLA, Ostrow worked as a consultant and strategist at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where he supported policy initiatives for the Sports Betting Alliance and advised clients including Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and the PGA Tour. Earlier in his career, he worked at FanDuel, where SGLA said he helped advance fantasy sports legislation in multiple U.S. states.

“Sean has been instrumental in building the Social Gaming Leadership Alliance into a respected voice for the Social Plus gaming industry,” Duncan said in a statement, “adding that Ostrow had demonstrated the strategic vision and policy expertise needed to advance the organization’s mission.”

SGLA also announced the appointment of four new board members: Derek Brinkman, chief new products officer at VGW; Jeff Duncan, Founding Partner at Covenant Government Affairs; Lloyd Melnick, chief government affairs officer at VGW; and Bryan Schroeder, general counsel at ARB Interactive.

Brinkman oversees new product operations and profit-and-loss responsibilities at VGW while supporting its Social Plus business. Melnick previously served as the company’s chief growth officer and general manager of Chumba Casino before taking on his current government affairs role.

Schroeder previously held legal and compliance leadership positions at Tipico North America and Hard Rock Digital before joining ARB Interactive.

“As I transition to the Board of Directors, I am confident Sean is the right leader to guide SGLA through its next phase of growth and continue advocating for innovation, responsible social gameplay and commonsense regulatory frameworks,” Duncan said.

The appointments expand SGLA’s leadership team as the organization continues to advocate for regulatory frameworks for Social Plus games.
