This game is expected to be quite a challenge for both teams. Now, the 24th-ranked Horned Frogs have gotten off to a 3-0 start while the Sun Devils are 3-1 and want to get back into the Top 25.
Sonny Dykes and Kenny Dillingham both know the stakes of this Big 12 contest. The game kicks off just after 9:00 pm ET.

Now, Arizona State is facing the second of four gauntlet Big 12 matchups. Facing Sawyer Robinson of Baylor was tough enough. Now, the Sun Devils defense has to contend with Josh Hoover. Hoover has been one of the best quarterbacks in the nation in September.
Hoover has racked up 1,000 passing yards in three games. TCU has wins against North Carolina and SMU. The Arizona State secondary is going to be considerably tested. TCU has Eric McAlister and Jordan Dwyer (577 combined yards and five touchdowns).
For Arizona State, few probably expected Kyson Brown to miss essentially almost three games with an ankle injury. Kenny Dillingham repeatedly has said Brown will see plenty of reps against the Horned Frogs.
The Sun Devils need that rushing attack to keep TCU and Hoover off the field. Raleek Brown has been very good but having Dyson 100% will help Jordyn Tyson (357 yards, five touchdowns) be that much more of a receiving threat.
Bud Clark and the TCU defense can be quite deceptive. However, if any offense could solve the Horned Frogs, it may be the Sun Devils that find a way. Depth and balance combined with home-field advantage plays a big role here.
Arizona State now has +400 odds to make the College Football Playoff. If the Sun Devils can win this week, they might win the next two and have a real chance to sneak into the mix. Both teams are going to have their issues defensively at times. It sets up the recipe for a higher scoring contest.
Arizona State is one of those teams who finds a way to win by one score and inch their way to a potential late cover. Take any rushing prop from Arizona State as needed. TCU’s run defense was gouged by Abilene Christian of all teams (453 yards). The Brown’s are even more dynamic.

Now, the concern is this spread is wobbling around between 2.5 and 3.5 points. Advice would be to keep checking around up until game time if possible. This contest opened as low as 1.5 and went up to 3.5 before settling. Why does TCU need to disguise so much around Bud Clark? That may be because their defense can be heavily exposed by a veteran Arizona State offensive line.
Sure, injuries are going to play a large role here. However, the depth again of the Sun Devils has been more tested compared to the Horned Frogs. TCU has been very good in the early going but are vulnerable.
Again, these are the fun Friday night matchups where anything can literally happen.
The standard Hines Ward refers to is often underestimated. It helped pave the way to Arizona State’s breakout in 2024.
I am going for the close dramatic result again. Arizona State finds a way to pull this out late with a good deal of entertainment and excitement.
