888poker

Three of 888poker‘s most popular tournaments were available to play for half of their usual price on June 7, and thousands of players took full advantage. A combined 2,808 players entered the $100,000 Sunday Sale Mystery Bounty Main Event, the $25,000 Sunday Sale Mystery Bounty 55, and the $25,000 Sunday Sale Big Shot 525 for half of those events’ usual buy-ins.

The $100,000 Sunday Sale Mystery Bounty Main Event was the best value for players. Not only did it have the largest guaranteed prize pool, but this tournament overlays every week when its usual $109 buy-in is in effect, so slashing it to $55 was a generous, if high-risk, move on 888poker’s part.

By the time late registration closed, 1,700 entries had been processed, leaving a $15,000 overlay for 888poker to make up. Perhaps the popularity of mystery bounty tournaments is waning?

The biggest success story of this tournament wasn’t those eight players who navigated to the final table, but the player who busted in 233rd place. That finish earned them $65, but they also opened a mystery bounty envelope containing a cool $10,000, meaning “kemogroup” took home $10,065 for their $55 investment!

7 slasha21 United Kingdom $137 986,682 8
8 POKERCASH33 Canada $49 921,332 8

The tournament paused once the eight-handed final table was reached, with those eight finalists returning to their seats on June 8 to wrap up matters.

Canada’s “POKERCASH33” reached the final table as the shortest stack, and they were the first out the door. They were first followed by Germany’s “ChrisJ00″ before Sweden’s ” sicklied ” bowed out in sixth.

Fifth place went to Brazilian “Paula499” with the United Kingdom’s “davedelmar” finding themselves void of chips soon after.

Another British player, “slasha21,” sat down at the final table with only eight big blinds, the second-shortest stack. However, they managed to mount an almost epic comeback, which was cut short when they fell in third.

That elimination left Moldova’s “gagauzoguz” heads-up against “_Chameleon_” of Ukraine for the title and the largest slice of the regular prize pool. The former came out on top and banked a total prize worth $6,880, leaving the runner-up to pad their bankroll with $5,028.

Romanian One-Two in the $25K Sunday Sale Mystery Bounty

Exactly 1,000 buy-ins were processed in the $25,000 Sunday Sale Mystery Bounty 55, meaning the guarantee was hit on the nose.

Although they finished in third place, “acrom14” took home the largest slice of the $25,000 prize pool, thanks to Lady Luck shining down on them. The Moldovan opened one mystery bounty envelope containing one of two $1,000 prizes, before opening the $2,500 jackpot bounty, too! They secured a $4,695 payout after falling in third.

Two Romanians contested the heads-up battle. “doomsdayf” crashed out in second place, earning $1,519, leaving “tafluck” to be crowned this tournament’s champion, an accolade that came with a $2,060 score.

888poker Regulars Turn Out for the Cut-Price Big Shot 525

The Sunday Sale Big Shot 525 saw its buy-in reduced to a more affordable $265 while keeping the $25,000 guarantee as normal. A field of 108 players ensured the guarantee was surpassed, with 888poker paying out $26,784.

The field was littered with the online poker site’s regulars; anyone who regularly reads PokerNews’ recap of the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event will no doubt recognize some of the names that navigated to the final table.

Canada’s “Reggie_Degen” helped themselves to the $883 eighth-place prize, with the final battle of the final table seeing “kellerassel0” of Germany lock horns with “The_Hoff_Man” of the UK. Both of those players regularly feature in 888poker’s higher stakes events.

At the end of the day, it was “kellerassel0” who came out on top. They got their hands on a $6,347 first-place prize, leaving their British opponent to a $4,526 consolation prize.

Satellites from a mere $0.10 are running right now, while several members of the 888poker ambassadors and Stream Team will be giving away $109 tickets throughout the week.
