Las Vegas restaurants are more than celebrity chefs and high-end dining up and down The Strip. In fact, some of Sin City’s best food is actually far from the neon lights. So This Week in Gambling, we are counting down the top sin city restaurants that tourists sometimes miss! Over the years, Las Vegas has become quite the town for world class restaurants, but sometimes, sometimes you just have to get off the beaten path to find them. Or in this case, you need to get off The Strip!
With the help of our friends at Casino City, we’ve pit together our video of the best Las Vegas restaurants not on The Strip! But we begin with some honorable mentions, those restaurants who just missed making the top five, including the amazing Thai food at Lotus of Siam, the upscale George Sportsman’s Lounge inside Durango, and remarkable steakhouses like Scotch 80 Prime at the Palms, and the Golden Steer on West Sahara.
But since we’re already talking about great steak, let’s begin our countdown of the best off strip restaurants with the number five spot on our list, Herbs and Rye on West Sahara. This intimate old school restaurant reminds some of a speakeasy and boast delicious Italian influence, cuisine, quality and value are exceptional, and herbs and right. Quality and value are exceptional, and Herbs and Rye is known for their legendary happy hours where all steaks and well drinks are half priced. Casino City recommends the 16 ounce rib eye!
Next, a true hidden gym just half a mile from the Horseshoe. It’s Bistecca, a fine dining experience at Tuscany Suites described as a traditional steakhouse paired with a first class Italian restaurant. Find the same top tier cuts, but without the strip level pricing. And Casino City says you should definitely try the braised bone end veal shank. Our number three location is Berry’s Downtown Prime at Circa Las Vegas. They cook their steaks over searing, fruit wood coals for a rich, smoky flavor. Their burgers are made with Mishima Reserve Wagyu! Plus, they serve large, unique cocktails. Casino City’s choice? The Berry’s Burger, with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and white American cheese.
Okay, so we only have a couple of restaurants left on our top five list of off Strip eateries… and spoiler alert: As much as I love In-N-Out Burger, they didn’t make the cut. At least not on this list. So at number two, we have Piero’s Italian cuisine, a Vegas favorite for over 40 years, located near Resorts World, known for exceptional Italian cuisine and superb seafood. Piero’s has six dining rooms that feature original artwork, old school charm, and celebrity clientele. When you visit Casino City recommends the Sunday Gravy, with rigatoni, meatballs, Italian sausage, and ricotta cheese.
Finally this week, Oscar’s Steakhouse at the Plaza takes the number one spot on our list of off-Strip Las Vegas restaurants, with premium stakes, handcrafted cocktails, and stunning views of the city from the recently expanded rooftop patio! Named for former mayor and famous mob attorney Oscar Goodman, the walls are lined with vintage photographs and memorabilia. Casino City suggests you try the No Noses Mob Meatballs with fresh ricotta! And we should also mention that Oscars was also Casino City’s number one choice for Las Vegas Happy hour locations, with half off deals for drinks and appetizers, just in case you needed another reason to give them a try!
