Top Streamed Hands of the Week: Malinowski and Dwan Take on the KPC High Rollers

Another week brought us a lot more action from the King Poker Cup (KPC), which hosted its first high roller tournament series, bringing Western high rollers like Wiktor Malinowski and Bryn Kenney to KPC Live. 

Hustler Casino Live was also celebrating its 5-year anniversary, but did so with a selection of mid-level streams that were no match for the action that KPC Live produced in its two episodes.

In two new high roller cash game sessions that aired last week, we saw Kenney, Malinowski, and Dwan battle it out with the likes of Tan Xuan, Elton Tsang, and A Bao, among others, and action was guaranteed. 

From the moment the first cards were dealt, chips went flying, and six- and seven-figure pots quickly became the norm. 

If you were too busy with online gambling or other hobbies to watch the KPC Live episodes in real time, here is a quick rundown of a few of the biggest pots of the week, along with a recap of your hero’s final tallies. 

Tom Dwan Takes Pocket Tens All the Way

The KPC Live stream has been on fire in recent weeks, and last week it brought us a couple of epic games, starting with a $200/$400 showdown that included the world’s winningest tournament poker players Bryn Kenney and online poker legends Wiktor “Limitless” Malinowski and Tom “durrrr” Dwan. 

As is usually the case when he’s at the table, Dwan was involved in some of the biggest pots of the session, including one that saw a few players limp for $1k each over a straddle, before Limitless raised it up to $8k holding K♣10♣. 

Wang Ye, a regular in the KPC games, saw this as a good opportunity to put on the squeeze play, as he bumped it up to $40k with A♥9♥. 

Next to act was Tan Xuan, a fearless high roller with $2.1 million in his stack, and when he looked down at A♣Q♠, you knew another raise was coming. This time, the price of poker went up to $140k, which put Tom in a particularly difficult situation. 

Having previously limped with 10♦10♥, Tom was now facing three raises behind him, which shrunk the value of his pocket pair significantly. Yet, knowing just how aggressive all three of his opponents are, Dwan decided that his pocket Tens were good enough to move all-in for nearly 400 big blinds. 

Dwan pushed in a stack worth $395k, and as soon as Malinowski and Wang Ye moved out of the way, Tan Xuan put his chips in, and the two players went off to the races. 

Durrrr’s Tens were ahead, but ever so slightly. The players decided to run the board just once, despite the pot having ballooned to $843k. 

The board brought a flop of K♠3♥3♠, followed by the J♦ and the 6♦, which meant Dwan’s gamble would pay off, as he won the massive flip, eventually making him one of the big winners of the game, up just over $600k for the session. 

Wang Ye and Tan Xuan Collide in a Massive Pot

Saturday brought us another massive KPC Live stream, with the blinds starting at $1k/$1k this time around, and a $2k Squid Game in play. 

An hour into the stream, two of the local heroes collided in a huge pot, which started with a couple of limps and a $15k raise from Wang Ye, who had a mystery hand to start things out. 

Tan Xuan, who’s never one to shy away from action, flicked in the chips with 6♠5♠, and the two players went heads-up to the flop. 

The flop of Q♠10♠2♠ gave Xuan a flopped flush, which he check-raised to $34k. Wang Ye made the call in position, and the two went to a turn of 9♣. 

Xuan checked once again, and Wang Ye obliged with a pot-sized bet of $110k. Tan Xuan just called this time around, presumably setting the trap for his opponent. 

The river card was the 3♥, which changed nothing, and Tan checked for the third time. With $322k in the pot, Wang Ye moved all-in for $622k, almost twice the pot, and Xuan snap-called the bet with his flopped flush. 

Unfortunately for him, he saw the bad news immediately, as Wang Ye turned over A♠8♠, for another flopped flush and a massive cooler. 

Just like that, Wang Ye won a pot worth $1.56 million, and he was able to ride this all the way and walk away with a profit of $1,089,000 for the session. Xuan lost $518k, while Malinowski ended up losing $1.24 million in what would turn out to be a nightmare session for him. 

Malinowski’s Kings Get Lots of Action

Wiktor Malinowski was driving much of the action on Saturday’s KPC Live stream, but things simply didn’t go his way. He was hopeful that would all change when he limped K♠K♥ from early position for $2k, and got A Bao to raise to $15k behind him with 9♦8♦.

This raise invited Tan Xuan with A♠9♠ and allowed Wiktor to put in a squeeze. He went relatively small with his monster hand and bumped it up to $55k. Both players saw this as a good offer and called, taking the pot up to $169k before the flop was even dealt. 

Unfortunately for Malinowski, Kings remain an Ace magnet, and the flop was A♦J♣2♦. He still c-bet for $50k, which he would also have done if he had a hand like AA or AK, but neither of his opponents was going anywhere. 

A Bao called with his flush draw, and Xuan was happy enough to stick around with his top pair and weak kicker. 

The turn card was the 4♥, and Limitless had seen enough. He checked his option, and A Bao saw this as an opportunity to potentially steal the pot. He went all-in for $256k, but got a quick call from Tan Xuan, who believed his top pair was good enough. 

Wiktor was forced to fold his Kings, while the other two would run the river for $831k. This time around, things went Xuan’s way, as the 2♥ on the river changed nothing, and he was able to scoop the pot. 

This hand allowed Xuan to recoup some of his earlier losses, while it meant A Bao would end the day down $113k, and Limitless would continue his bleeding well into the seven figure teritorry.
