The US online casino crossed a major milestone in December, as the seven iGaming states combined for over $1 billion in monthly revenue for the first time, hitting the projection I forecasted following October’s results.
Six of the seven states have reported their revenue from December, and the tally is already well over the mark, besting the previous record of $969.7 million set in October by nearly $60 million. Currently, revenue is at $1.03 billion with Rhode Island still left to report.
This latest milestone is a continued sign that US online casinos are not showing any signs of slowing down. Already in 2026, Maine has passed legislation to become the eighth iGaming state.
Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth Over 21%
Even without the Rhode Island numbers in, US iGaming revenue is already up over 21% compared to December of last year.
Here’s a look at each of the seven iGaming state’s year-over-year comparison for December. It should be noted that some states individually report their adjusted gross revenue (AGR), which removes promotional spend from their wins. This table reflects the gross gaming revenue, which is the total prior to the promo spending being taken out.
In November, Rhode Island reported $5.6 million in online casino revenue. Should the state come in around that mark that could push the United States to $1.04 billion for the month.
PA, MI, NJ See New Records By Wide Margins
The signs were showing that the US could reach $1 billion in monthly iGaming revenue when October’s total of $969.7 million came in. At that time, it was a new record by nearly $60 million.
I projected that revenue would hit $1 billion in December following October’s results, but thought it might be a close call. Instead, the major iGaming states blew past expectations.
- Pennsylvania: The Keystone State recorded $324.3 million in gross revenue last month, a new US record in its own right. They bested their previous record by nearly $12 million, which was $312.5 million in October.
- Michigan: Michigan became the second state to top $300 million in monthly online casino revenue when it reported $315.8 million last month. Their previous record was also in October, which was $278.5 million, a difference of over $37 million. Michigan was aided in its record by the launch of Hard Rock Bet, which did $35.7 million in its first month, the second-best launch of any operator in the state. A strong Hard Rock Bet promo code helped the operator out to the fast start.
- New Jersey: The Garden State also put up a new record for revenue with $273.2 million in December. That topped their previous record in October by nearly $13 million, which was $260.3 million.
Both Pennsylvania ($3.46 billion) and Michigan ($3.09 billion) surpassed $3 billion in yearly iGaming revenue, while New Jersey came up just shy at $2.91 billion. Just from these three combined, that is $9.46 billion in online casino revenue for 2025.
