The Wilton Rancheria tribe has launched the next phase of development at California’s Sky River Casino, holding a groundbreaking ceremony for its forthcoming hotel resort.
The planned development includes 300 hotel rooms adjacent to a glass atrium designed to create a botanical-style setting. The property will also include a luxury day spa, outdoor pool, lobby lounge, restaurant, coffee bar, and additional food and beverage outlets.
The project also includes a 30,000-square-foot multi-use entertainment and event venue intended for conferences, performances, and large-scale gatherings. A high-limit and VIP slot gaming area is also planned for the property.
“Every element of this hotel is being shaped with intention,” said Michael J. Facenda, President and GM of Sky River Casino. “This next chapter is centered on hospitality that delivers an upscale, energetic, and international experience that awakens the senses. Once complete, the hotel will create new jobs and pathways for employment that help move the community forward.”
Ceremony connects project with tribal history
Wilton Rancheria and Sky River Casino held a golden shovel groundbreaking ceremony for the hotel resort development. The event brought together tribal leadership, tribal citizens, casino executives, and regional dignitaries.
Guests entered the ceremony through a red-carpet walkway lined with black velvet ropes leading to the event stage. Architectural renderings of the future hotel resort were displayed alongside historical milestones from Wilton Rancheria and Sky River Casino.
During the ceremony, participants used soil uncovered from Wilton Rancheria land where the casino operates. Organizers said the soil represented the tribe’s sovereignty, federal recognition, and ancestral roots.
“Before we broke ground on Sky River, we made a promise to our tribal citizens, to the community, and to the future,” said Chairman Jesus Tarango of Wilton Rancheria. “Today, we renew that promise, and we go further. Because we are not developers chasing an opportunity, we are a people reclaiming what is ours, and building something that will provide, sustain, and uplift the entire region for generations.”
