Spain’s opponent will be determined by the winner of England vs Argentina on Wednesday in Atlanta.

Whoever the opponent is, Spain will find themselves the betting favorite heading into Sunday’s championship clash.

In the latest odds to win the World Cup, Spain are priced as 57¢ favorites to win their second-ever title (and first since 2010). England clock in as the second-favorite at 24¢ (+317) with reigning-champion Argentina now bringing up the rear at 21¢ (+376).

England vs Argentina a Near Pick’em

The second semifinal between England and Argentina is nearly a pick’em matchup. The Three Lions are 55¢ favorites to advance (-122) with Argentina at 46¢ (+118). So England is perceived to be the tougher matchup, but that slight difference between potential opponents won’t be enough to drop Spain to second-favorite if England wins.

If the Three Lions do reach the final, you can expect about a one-cent drop in Spain’s price. If Argentina wins, you can expect about a one-cent boost. Ergo, the lookahead lines for the two potential World Cup final matchups are as follows:

Spain vs England Lookahead Line

If England reaches the World Cup final – something they haven’t done since winning the tournament in 1966 – it would set up a rematch from the Euro 2024 title game, which Spain won 2-1.

Based on the current lines, Spain is likely to open as slight 56¢ chalk (-127 odds) with England coming back at about 45¢ (+122).

The historical head-to-head is fairly even. The teams have met 28 times previously with Spain winning 14, England winning 11, and three ending in a draw. The 2024 Euro meeting was the only matchup since a pair of games during the 2018 Nations League, when England was 3-2 in Sevilla and Spain returned the favor with a 2-1 win at Wembley.

If Argentina get past England on Wednesday, they will head into the final as underdogs, likely at 43¢ (+133). Spain would be roughly a 58¢ favorite (-138).

Argentina and Spain haven’t met since 2018, when La Roja embarrassed a Lionel Messi-less Argentina squad 6-1 in a friendly. That was the only meeting in the last 16 years and they haven’t played a competitive fixture since the 1966 World Cup: a 2-1 Argentina win in the group stage.
