The World Poker Tour (WPT) is scheduled to return to Cambodia in August for a large-scale festival branded as the WPT Cambodia Passport to the World Championship. The series will run from August 12 to August 24 at the NagaWorld Integrated Resort in Phnom Penh, a venue that has become one of the most active poker destinations in Southeast Asia.
The 13-day schedule will feature 70 events with combined guaranteed prize pools of $1 million. A $1,300 buy-in Main Event will anchor the series, carrying a $500,000 guarantee.
Satellites will run across the schedule, giving players access to all guaranteed events as well as additional qualification routes toward the season-ending WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas.
Main Event returns with $500,000 guarantee
The $1,300 Main Event sits at the center of the festival and runs from August 20 to August 24. While the guarantee stands at $500,000, previous editions of WPT Cambodia suggest the final prize pool could significantly exceed that figure.
Earlier WPT events at the same location have repeatedly outperformed expectations. A July 2024 Main Tour stop generated more than 900 entries and produced a prize pool of over $1 million, more than doubling its guarantee. Other editions have also shown steady growth in participation, with fields regularly exceeding several hundred players.
NagaWorld has hosted WPT events since 2019, gradually expanding in scale. Early stops drew smaller fields, but subsequent festivals have recorded increasing attendance, including more than 1,000 entries at a 2022 event and a multi-million-dollar prize pool during the 2025 festival.
WPT CEO Adam Pliska described the upcoming series as a significant stop on the tour’s calendar, noting the combination of competitive structure and regional appeal. “The WPT Cambodia Passport to the World Championship provides players with an incredible opportunity to compete while enjoying one of the region’s premier poker destinations. In addition to an action-packed tournament schedule, we are thrilled to offer players a pathway to earn their way to the WPT World Championship,” he said.
Pathway to Wynn Las Vegas adds qualification incentive
A central feature of the festival is its qualification system for the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas in December. Throughout the Phnom Penh series, players will have access to satellites that feed directly into the season-ending event.
The structure allows participants to progress from low-cost entries into higher-tier tournaments and potentially into the Las Vegas championship itself. This pathway has become a key component of the WPT’s international schedule, linking regional festivals to its flagship final event.
NagaWorld will also continue its role as a hub for Asian poker players, with strong participation expected from regional markets that have historically supported previous Cambodia stops.
The Cambodia festival forms part of the second half of WPT Season 24, which includes multiple international stops following the August event. The tour is scheduled to move to Cyprus later in August, followed by WPT Australia at The Star Sydney in September and additional U.S. stops including Jacksonville and Texas-based events.
Later in the year, the WPT will stage tournaments in San Jose and Las Vegas before concluding the season with the WPT World Championship at Wynn in December.
Room packages for players attending the Cambodia festival are already available at NagaWorld, with pricing beginning at $55 per night for standard accommodations. High Roller participants will receive complimentary stays as part of the event package.
Full event details and satellite structures are expected to be released ahead of the August start date as preparations continue for one of the tour’s largest regional festivals of the year.
