Wynn Millions Championship in Full Swing; McKeehen, Serock, and Land Claim Big Wins

The Wynn Millions series, running Feb. 16 through March 22 at Wynn Las Vegas, continued to build momentum this week as the $3,500 Wynn Millions Championship took center stage. Just 44 of 693 entries remain heading into Day 3, with a stacked field still in contention for the title. While the Championship headlines the series, Joseph McKeehen, Joseph Serock and Matthew Land added marquee victories to their resumes with wins in side events this past week.

Day 2 of the $3,500 Wynn Millions Championship event began with big-name pros Scott Ball and Calvin Anderson leading the way. Neither player advanced to Day 3, which begins at noon on Monday from inside Wynn Las Vegas.

Although some top pros were unable to find a bag, many other high-profile players are still in the hunt. That includes Nadya Magnus, once a PokerStars Big Game “Loose Cannon” and now a respected grinder with a strong presence on social media.

Magnus, who bagged 2,590,000 chips, is one of 44 of the original 693 players still standing. Her lead over Ernest Bush (2,330,000) is slim. Jesse Lonis, one of the top high-stakes tournament players in the world, also bagged a healthy stack with 1,470,000 chips.

McKeehen Back in the Winners Circle

Joe McKeehen returned to the winner’s circle in impressive fashion in the $2,200 NLH 6-Max event. The 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event champion topped a field of 321 players to secure first place and $126,957 in prize money after defeating Timothy Chang in heads-up play.

McKeehen’s road to victory included navigating a tough field that featured players who made Day 2 but fell short of the final table, such as Chris Hunichen, Calvin Anderson, and young pro Jeremy Becker, who expressed frustration after his elimination with pocket kings.

Nlemchi Wins $400 NLH Title

In a standout performance at the Wynn Millions series, Ikechukwu Nlemchi captured the title in the $400 No-Limit Hold’em event, topping a massive field of 868 entries to claim $31,233 from the $289,044 prize pool. The final table saw Karapet Galstyan and Evan McGuirk finish second and third, respectively, each posting strong cashes.

$1,600 PLO $500 Bounty – ‘On Tilt Nick’ Claims Title

In Pot-Limit Omaha action, Nicolas Splawn, better known as “On Tilt Nick” of the “On Tilt Boys,” captured the $1,600 PLO $500 Bounty title after outlasting a field of 95 entries. Splawn took home $19,579 plus bounty earnings for the victory. The final table featured strong names, including Pierre De Almeida in second and Stephen Foutty in third, with Joseph Cheong also finishing in the money.

Daniel Lowery Wins Wynn Millions Seniors Event

Daniel Lowery, one of the top performers in World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) history, won another poker tournament on Thursday, this time at Wynn Las Vegas.

The Arkansas native with 18 WSOPC rings and $3.9 million in live tournament cashes emerged victorious in the $1,100 Seniors (50+) No-Limit Hold’em event at the Wynn Millions series. He topped a field of 140 entrants to earn $35,078, the largest share of the $135,100 prize pool.

Lowery, a longtime respected mid-stakes tournament grinder, defeated William Eissler heads-up for the title. Eissler took home $21,721 for his runner-up finish.

Joseph Serock Wins $10,500 PKO

Joseph Serock topped a 19-entry field in the $10,500 NLH PKO. Three players made the money, with Serock earning $46,600 for the win along with an additional $42,000 in bounties.

Matthew Land Takes Down $600 NLH for $104,654

The $600 NLH $500K GTD event drew 1,286 entries, smashing the guarantee and generating a $655,860 prize pool. A total of 158 players made the money, and when the dust settled, it was Matthew Land topping the field to take home the $104,654 first-place prize.
