Austrian “CKrilP0” Comes Out on Top in the 888poker $80K Mystery Bounty

Another $80,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event wrapped up on 888poker on August 3, with Austria’s “CKrilP0” coming out on top and turning their $109 investment into an $11,130 score. In something of a rarity, both the first and second-place finishers received five-figure payouts, thanks to the mystery bounty structure awarding some juicy prizes.

A field of 752 entrants left 888poker with another overlay on its flagship tournament, giving players a little additional value. Five of the six largest mystery bounty payments were captured by those who navigated to the final table.

“Antontog” went into the nine-handed final table not only with the chip lead but having also pulled more than $10,000 worth of mystery bounties from their respective golden envelopes, including the $8,000 jackpot bounty.

It took 30 minutes for the first player to lose their stack, and it was the Brazilian ace Joao “joao_mathis” Mathis who was that unfortunate soul. The vastly experienced grinder open-shoved for 10 big blinds with king-jack in the small blind. “M.Baranov” called in the big blind with king-nine and spiked a nine on the river.

Mathis’ exit opened the floodgates, and the $80,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event wrapped up within the next 75 minutes.

“pickpocketRL,” one of four Ukrainians at the final table, crashed out in seventh. They committed their last 12 big blinds from the cutoff with pocket eights and found a caller in “CoinFlip50” on the button with ace-queen. “CoinFlip50” paired their ace and queen on the flop to reduce the player count again.

Brazil’s “feliperamonw” returned from the scheduled break and almost immediately busted. They were left with 1.5 big blinds after their under-the-gun jam with king-queen of hearts lost to “M.Baranov”‘s pocket aces. They were in the big blind on the next hand, and their king-jack of diamonds lost to the ace-eight of “Antontog.”

The final five became four when “CoinFlip50” came off second-best in a clash with “Tiltinvasion” didn’t go to plan. “CoinFlip50” was down to fewer than 4 big blinds when they moved all in with ace-five of clubs. “Tiltinvasion” woke up with ace-king in the small blind, and they three-bet to isolate the at-risk player. Both players flopped two pair, but “CoinFlip50” couldn’t improve to a full house and bowed out.

“M.Baranov”‘s tournament ended in a fourth-place finish on the very next hand. “CKrilP0” min-raised, “M.Baranov” three-bet, leaving only four big blinds behind, and “Antontog” pushed their 74 big bling chip-leading stack into the middle. The initial raiser folded, but “M.Baranov” called and flipped over pocket sevens. “Antontog” revealed a pair of jacks in the hole, which held on an ace-high board.

The tournament advanced to heads-up after the elimination of “Tiltinvasion.” The soon-to-bust payer raised with ace-nine of diamonds on the button and quickly called when “Antontog” three-bet enough to set them all-in for the 11.6 big blinds they had behind. “Antontog” turned over the dominating ace-king and locked up the hand when a king landed on the turn.
That hand gave “Antontog” a 69.3 to 43.5 big blind chip advantage over “CKrilP0” going into heads-up. Both players had already won substantial bounty payments and would now both secure five-figure prizes regardless of where they finished. However, everyone knows tournament players simply love to win.

The chip lead changed hands several times, but “CKrilP0” won a big pot on an ace-high board with ace-king when their opponent held ace-trey. That seemed to be the catalyst for “CKrilP0” to put the pedal to the metal.

A champion was crowned when “Antontog” decided to open-shove for just under 20 big blinds with ten-seven of spades, and “CKrilP0” looked them up with pocket sixes. Those sixes held on a double-paired queen-high board, which busted “Antontog” in second place, a finish good for $15,362, and leaving “CKrilP0” as this week’s champion and recipient of $11,130.
