The San Francisco Giants (22-31) stay at Oracle Park to begin a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks (28-24) Monday afternoon. Last week, the D-Backs swept San Fran in Arizona, winning each time on the runline. However, due to the pitching matchup, the MLB odds are pointing towards the Giants as favorites in this one. First pitch is 2:05 PM PT / 5:05 PM ET.

Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly’s ERA is rather bloated, but that’s due to a couple of rough outings to begin the campaign. He’s settled down of late, but he’s facing Landen Roupp, who’s been the anchor of the Giants staff thus far. Keep reading for my analysis and prediction along with a MLB Player Props selection.

I lean toward the Over 7.5 combined runs being scored in this one. That happened in all three instances last week between these two squads, with at least eight runs being accumulated. In eleven of the last twelve meetings between ARI vs SF, at least eight runs have been scored.

Arizona features a capable offense, producing 239 runs with a .717 team OPS. Meanwhile, the Giants draw a highly favorable matchup against Kelly, who surrenders 9.66 hits and 1.76 home runs per nine innings. These teams are sixth and seventh best (resisting the urge to say a 6-7 joke), in batting average on the campaign, which should give plenty of opportunities for runs to be scored.

My favorite player prop is Landen Roupp Over 5.5 Strikeouts. Though he wasn’t able to go over that threshold vs Arizona in his latest start, in eight of his other nine starts this season, Roupp has accumulated at least six K’s.
