Ousmane Dembélé scored two late goals as Paris Saint-Germain extinguished Liverpool‘s hopes of a comeback to march into the Champions League semifinals 4-0 on aggregate.
Liverpool were looking for another famous Anfield European fight back after a 2-0 loss in the French capital last week but their best chance came and went when a penalty awarded to them midway through the second half was overturned following a VAR review.
Ballon d’Or winner Dembélé, who missed several chances in the first leg that could have put the tie to bed, then made sure there would be no late drama with goals in the 72nd minute and the first minute of second-half stoppage time.

Defending champions PSG now face a semifinal against either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, with the German champions leading 2-1 from the first leg in Munich.
Liverpool, meanwhile, exit to PSG for the second straight season following a round of 16 loss last year.
The six-time European champions must now secure a place in the Premier League’s top five to ensure a return to Europe’s premier competition next season and salvage something from a disappointing campaign.
