For the better part of the last 20 years, Phil Hellmuth has made a spectacle around his entrance to the World Series of Poker main event. For the 2026 running of poker’s world championship, the all-time bracelet leader chose to channel Superman, while honoring all of his previous outfits and entrances.
Hellmuth dressed in a customized black and gold costume evoking Superman, with the signature ‘S’ replaced by his ‘PH’ logo. He was accompanied by his two sons, Nick and Phil Hellmuth III, also dressed in similar outfits. Daniel ‘Jungleman’ Cates, who has taken part in the entrance over the last few years, also dressed in superhero garb, with costume wings on his back.

Placards celebrating each of his record 17 WSOP gold bracelets also featured images of previous incarnations of Hellmuth at the table. Channeling comic book art, the pictures displayed Hellmuth’s previous costumed personas, including Julius Caesar, Gandalf, and the Greatest Showman, among many others. Other images flashed back to early stages of Hellmuth’s career, including a tribute to his 1989 WSOP main event victory.
Bringing The Noise
While mostly lighthearted and self-promotional, Hellmuth’s entrances have, occasionally, drawn ire from other players in the room. Hellmuth made his 2026 entrance while Daniel Negreanu was playing Artur Martirosian heads-up for a bracelet and $2.25 million in the $100,000 pot-limit Omaha high roller.
According to PokerNews‘ live update coverage, Hellmuth’s hullabaloo made for a small disruption during the heads-up battle. Someone on the rail reportedly asked Negreanu to include the spectacle in his popular YouTube vlog, to which he responded, “I’m too busy winning.” Negreanu did go on to close out the victory, earning his eighth bracelet and the fourth-largest cash of his illustrious career.
As for the Hellmuth family, Nick sat down at one of the featured tables for the day 1A broadcast on ESPN and remained in costume.
