  • The Milwaukee Brewers seek their sixth win in seven games as they open a 3-game set vs the Colorado Rockies
  • Milwaukee swept Coloroda in the only series they’ve played this season, and taken seven of the last 10 matchups
  • Read below for the my Rockies vs Brewers predictions, picks, updated odds and betting splits

The surging Milwaukee Brewers continue their chase for the best record in baseball when they take on the lowly Colorado Rockies on Friday.

The Brew-Crew, who have just one loss in seven games since the all-star break, start the day a game back of the MLB-leading LA Dodgers.

Milwaukee will enter as the overwhelming home favorite in the MLB odds, against a last-place Colorado squad that has lost four straight series.

First pitch goes at 4:10pm ET from American Family Field in Milwaukee, with MLB TV providing the broadcast coverage.

COL Rockies vs MIL Brewers Prediction

  • Best Bet: Brewers Run Line -1.5 (51¢ / -104 at Kalshi)

The pitching disparity between these MLB probable pitchers is staggering, making my approach to the side and total straightforward.

The Brewers boast a 66.2% win rate (47-24) as favorites this season. They have also won 75% of their games (6-2) when favored over their last 10 contests. For those tracking MLB ATS records, backing the home side here aligns perfectly with historical performance.

The Rockies pitching staff has been a disaster, collectively posting a 5.50 team ERA. They hand the ball to Tomoyuki Sugano, who carries a bloated 4.77 ERA.

At first glance, Sugano’s 9-4 record looks impressive. However, a deeper dive into his underlying metrics reveals massive regression risks. His 5.39 FIP indicates he has been remarkably lucky. He pitches to contact, evidenced by a low 5.06 K/9. This is a perilous strategy against a potent lineup.

Conversely, the Brewers boast a sturdy 3.44 team ERA. Starter Shane Drohan has been highly effective with a 3.86 ERA and he features significantly better peripheral stats. Drohan’s elite 3.08 FIP suggests he has pitched much better than his surface-level run prevention indicates. With an 8.77 K/9, he consistently generates swings and misses.

Offensively, the Brewers operate as a top-five run-scoring machine at home. They average a robust 5.09 runs per game in their own building. Meanwhile, the Rockies offense is middling at best when taken out of the thin air of Coors Field, ranking tied for 28th in average exit velocity on the road.

This massive chasm in run prevention makes it incredibly difficult for the Rockies to stay competitive. Even with capable bats like Ezequiel Tovar trying to spark the lineup, they simply do not hit the ball hard enough on a consistent basis to reliably threaten elite pitching.

Backing the Brewers to win by multiple runs offers excellent value given the inability of the Rockies to suppress hard contact.

Rockies vs Brewers Picks

Shane Drohan 18+ Outs (52¢ / -108 at Kalshi)

Instead of laying standard juice on traditional MLB player props, I am targeting the Kalshi market where Drohan to record 18+ outs is priced at 52¢ (implied -108 odds). Drohan averages 5.41 innings per start recently, and the Rockies struggle to hit the ball hard on the road.

Over 8.5 Runs (51¢ / -104 at Kalshi)

Despite their poor overall record, the Rockies offense has generated a .745 team OPS. Their ability to manufacture occasional runs, combined with the likelihood of the Brewers teeing off against Sugano, points heavily toward an Over. The Rockies bullpen also sports a 4.96 ERA, leaving the door open for late-inning scoring.

When reviewing the current MLB odds, the Brewers enter this matchup as massive home favorites, commanding a steep -240 moneyline price at FanDuel. This lopsided valuation accurately reflects the glaring pitching mismatch. If you prefer alternative markets, Kalshi offers the Brewers to win at 70¢, which translates to roughly -233 odds and provides slight value over traditional books.

The game total sits at 8.5, with the juice shading toward the Under at -113, courtesy of DraftKings. Taking the Over pays out at -105 odds courtesy of bet365. In the runline market. The Brewers are -1.5 favorites with -110, while Colorado getting an extra 1.5 runs still offers reasonable -105 odds.

Looking at the MLB public betting splits, it’s Milwaukee or bust. On the moneyline, a whopping 92% of the bets and 97% of the money are on the Brewers, with Milwaukee getting 81% of the bets and 96% of the money on the spread.

As for the total, there’s an expectation of some scoring, as 82% of the bets and 83% of the money have sided with Over 8.5 runs.
