  • Aryna Sabalenka is a -420 moneyline favorite over Elina Svitolina in semifinal action at the Australian Open
  • Neither woman has dropped a set all tournament
  • See my Sabalenka vs Svitolina picks and predictions below, plus the latest betting odds

World #1 Aryna Sabalenka is through to her seventh straight Grand Slam semifinal where she’ll take on #12 Elina Svitolina in the Australian Open’s final four. Online sportsbooks expect a fourth consecutive trip to the final for Sabalenka, pegging her as a -420 moneyline favorite.

So far down under, no woman has been able take a set off the Belarusian, but I’m predicting Svitolina can push her to the brink and extend this match beyond 21.5 total games.

The action is set to get underway Tuesday morning at 3:30 am ET, with live coverage available on ESPN.

Here are my Sabalenka vs Svitolina picks and predictions, plus the latest betting odds for their Australian Open semifinal matchup.

Sabalenka vs Svitolina Picks and Predictions

  • Over 21.5 Total Games (-120 at FanDuel)
  • Svitolina +4.5 Games (-110 at FanDuel)

Sabalenka is not only the favorite in the Australian Open odds, she also has the shortest odds to win all three other Grand Slams as well. She’s dominated the women’s game for the past three years, winning four Grand Slams and 12 total titles. She’s breezed through her first five matches down under, but Svitolina’s form is simply too good to ignore.

The Ukrainian is through to a Grand Slam semi for the fifth time in her career, but is still looking for her first Finals appearance at a Major. She does have a WTA Finals crown in addition to 18 other titles on her resume, and has navigated a difficult path at this tournament with relative ease.

Like her opponent, Svitolina has yet to drop a set at the Australian Open. She ran over Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-2 in the quarters, and has lost six or fewer games in four of five matches, dispatching two top-10 opponents along the way.

Her biggest strengths are her return game and prowess from the baseline, two areas that will need to be razor sharp versus the World No. 1.

Sabalenka may be the best server in the women’s game, but she has shown cracks in that part of her game during this event. She was broken multiple times in the Fourth Round and yielded five breakpoint opportunities to Iva Jovic in the quarters.

Neither of those players is as proficient a returner as Svitolina, who’s fresh off winning 28 of 43 return points versus the third ranked Gauff, converting 6 of 7 breakpoints.

Svitolina’s service game is also on the rise. She’s fresh off back-to-back 4 ace performances, and her improvement in that area coupled with her incredible return game should push to Sabalenka to a third set. That will take this match over the 21.5 games total, and likely lead to Svitolina covering the 4.5 game spread as well, which is my second favorite pick.

At the time of writing, FanDuel has the best price in market for both of my best bets. They also have the longest odds on Svitolina to pull off the upset at +320, although that’s something she’s only accomplished in one of six career matches against Sabalenka.
