WPT Cambodia

The World Poker Tour (WPT) is returning to Cambodia in August for what is billed as WPT Cambodia Passport to the World Championship. Running from August 12-24, the festival boasts 70 events, with combined guarantees of $1 million, including a $1,300 buy-in, $500,000 guaranteed Main Event.

WPT Cambodia Passport to the World Championship takes place at the luxurious NagaWorld Integrated Resort, one of Asia’s premier poker destinations.

Although the full schedule is yet to be released, a press release stated, “satellite will be available for every guaranteed prize pool event on the schedule with additional opportunities to qualify for the season-ending WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas.

Adam Pliska, the WPT’s CEO, said, “The WPT Cambodia Passport to the World Championship provides players with an incredible opportunity to compete while enjoying one of the region’s premier poker destinations. In addition to an action-packed tournament schedule, we are thrilled to offer players a pathway to earn their way to the WPT World Championship.”

The highlight of WPT Cambodia Passport to the World Championship is the $1,300 buy-in Main Event. It will come with a $500,000 on its guarantee, a sum that should be obliterated if previous Cambodia visits are anything to go by.

When the WPT ran this exact tournament in July 2024, some 913 entrants created a $1,040,592 prize pool, which was more than double the advertised guarantee. China’s Sha Cheng Chun ($187,772) came out on top after defeating his fellow countryman Xiaosheng Zheng ($118,130) heads-up for the title.

Two similar events have taken place since then: a pair of $1,100 WPT Prime Cambodia Main Events.

The February 2025 edition attracted 1,484 players, with Alexander Puchalski taking home $233,680 of the $1,429,080 prize pool. Russia’s Andrey Kalgin banked $164,570 of a $1,062,150 prize pool in 2026 as he outlasted 1,094 opponents.

WPT’s 24th Season Picks Up The Pace During Second Half of 2026

WPT is set to announce more details of upcoming events for the second half of its 24th season.

August sees WPT Cyprus take place, with WPT Australia at The Star Sydney, WPT bestbest Scramble in Jacksonville, and WPT Prime Lodge at The Lodge Club in Texas scheduled for September.

In October, the WPT sets sail for the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star in San Jose, before WPT Venetian in Las Vegas runs in late October and early November. Then there’s the grand finale in December: the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas.

PokerNews will bring you more details of these epic WPT stops in the coming weeks.
